Sometimes we come to our great loves in a round about way…… for me, this was what happened with travel. Although I’ve always loved history, photos and stories of places, exotic or not, I didn’t really start travelling until I was nearly 50!!!!. There would be many a child who wouldn’t believe me, but its true; my first overseas holiday at 49 was Bali, were I wasn’t that enthusiastic about visiting. Bali is hardly daring for someone who lives in Australia but the bug bit big time with the next adventure being Egypt, arriving home from Cairo less than 3 weeks prior to the Spring Uprising!!! Gosh sometimes life gives you gifts you weren’t expecting………Since then I’ve travelled at every opportunity, mostly as a solo female traveller, using various travel styles. I’ve travelled solo independent, solo with package tour groups, package tours with friends, cruised both solo and with company. I don’t have a particular style of travel that I enjoy more than another, I just enjoy travelling. I always do my own research which allows me to include “off the beaten track” experiences that really resonate with me. The thrill of experiencing something you’ve found by yourself is rewarded many times over.
As they say the rest is history because these days even if I’m on holidays, I’ve always got a trip in planning……….Through my posts I’d love to show you via my personal experiences where I’ve been, what I’ve seen, how I did this, what I do to travel solo safely; yes it is possible and fun!! Also share my insights into planning your own travel and travelling on a budget. I really hope that among my posts you find something of value and that inspires you.
